The Story

The 1957 Ford Thunderbird marked the pinnacle of Ford’s original “personal luxury” two-seater design—a blend of performance, elegance and effortless style that made it an enduring American icon. The final year of the first-generation Thunderbird introduced a longer rear deck, pronounced tailfins and a more refined front bumper design, resulting in one of the most timeless shapes of the 1950s.

The result of a multiyear refurbishment that was completed in 2022, this beautifully restored Thunderbird is finished in a striking Starmist blue exterior over a matching two-tone blue vinyl interior. Power comes from a rebuilt 312 CI V-8 engine paired with a smooth 3-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission, delivering the relaxed and capable cruising performance for which the Thunderbird became famous. This example has also been outfitted with air conditioning for those warm summer days.

Features include a body-color removable hardtop with porthole windows, a white soft top, Thunderbird emblems, shaped and chromed front and rear bumpers, fender vents, bumper-mounted auxiliary parking lights, a fixed antenna, fender skirts and slanted tail fins. Additional equipment includes a heater, analog clock, Town and Country radio and polished brightwork throughout, showcasing the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the restoration. With its elegant color combination, desirable features and a thorough, well-documented refurbishment, this 1957 Ford Thunderbird represents a beautifully restored example of one of the most iconic American automobiles of the postwar era—an ideal choice for both collectors and enthusiasts alike.
