The Story
While Ford sold more than 72,000 Mustang Mach 1s in its first year, only 3,891 were equipped with the big-block S-code 390 CI engine and 4-speed manual transmission. With the 1969 Mach 1, Ford finally gave the Mustang a true high-performance model. External identification included a blackout hood and click-pins, reflective side stripes and quad exhaust tips. Inside, the Mach 1 features its own interior that adds high-back bucket seats, a console, wood-grain and a rim-blow steering wheel, while the Competition Suspension improves handling.
With a combination of ultra-high performance, rarity and supercar image, the Mach 1 ranks among the most collectible of Mustangs. This 1969 Mach 1 was sold at Haberfelde Ford in Bakersfield, California, on December 4, 1968, to its original owner. Today, this Mach 1 has been beautifully restored and finished in the stunning color combination of Candy Apple Red with a black knit-vinyl Mach 1 Hi-Back bucket-seat interior. Options listed on the Marti Report include: Visibility Group, F70x14 Wide Oval belted white sidewall tires, Sport Deck Rear Seat, Power Front Disc Brakes, Air Conditioner, AM Radio, Tinted Glass-Complete and Deluxe Belts/Warning Light. It’s a beautifully restored, documented, big-block, 4-speed Mach 1.
