The Story
The Ford Mustang Boss 429 stands as one of the most legendary high-performance muscle cars of the era, created by Ford as a homologation special to qualify its massive “Boss 9” engine for NASCAR competition. Built in extremely limited numbers and engineered with extensive modifications by Kar Kraft, the Boss 429 represented the pinnacle of Ford’s performance ambitions in the muscle car wars of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Featuring a semi-hemispherical 429 CI V-8, heavy-duty suspension, and distinctive functional bodywork, the Boss 429 has long been regarded as one of the most collectible and historically significant Mustangs ever produced.
Offered here is a highly desirable 1970 example of an original Boss 429 sold new at Harold Turner Ford. The car retains its numbers-matching drivetrain, including the legendary numbers-matching Boss 429 V-8 engine, numbers-matching factory manual transmission, and 3.91 rear axle. The car also retains its original White Clarion interior, which remains exceptionally well preserved. Beyond the repaint, the car has remained in excellent original condition with an outstanding original body, preserving the authenticity and character that collectors prize in these rare homologation Mustangs.
Further supporting its provenance, this Boss 429 is well documented, accompanied by a complete Marti Report as well as original factory build sheet, providing clear verification of its factory specifications and production details. This original 1970 Boss 429 represents a compelling opportunity to acquire one of Ford’s most celebrated muscle cars.
