2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake

The Super Snake has always been the ultimate form of the Mustang. Historically, not only was power improved but also styling and handling to create the ultimate package. These cars are not for the faint of heart, with 800 HP produced from a 5.4L supercharged engine backed by a 6-speed manual transmission, these cars were created for the person who thought 550 HP just wasn’t enough.

Starting with a stock 2011 Shelby GT500 that was purchased from West-Herr Ford in Hamburg, New York, this Shelby was converted to Super Snake status with the help of some needed upgrades. It started with upgrading the supercharger to a Kenne Bell unit, helping the new all-aluminum 5.4L Ford V-8 make 850 HP, roughly 250 HP more than the original car. This engine is backed by a Hurst billet-shifted 6-speed transmission, with an aluminum driveshaft sending power to the 3.73 rear end. Shelby/Alcoa 20-inch wheels are mounted over Shelby 6-piston front- and 4-piston rear disc brakes, improving Ford’s already excellent performance suspension.

The Super Snake is readily identified by its scooped fiberglass hood, quarter window scoops, rear spoiler and badging. Inside, the black leather interior is upgraded with “Carroll Shelby” embroidered headrests, Alcantara inserts and auxiliary gauges, the final and most important touch being the unique dash plaque with the car’s special Super Snake serial number. The car being offered for sale is finished in Kona Blue accented by a white center stripe. This color combination is carried through into the interior. With just over 4,600 miles on the odometer, this Super Snake has been collector owned its whole life. It comes documented with a Shelby Registry certificate and owner’s manuals.
