The Story
Hot Rod culture started in the early 1930s when enthusiasts in Southern California started modifying their cars and racing them on dry lake beds and beaches. Modified to reduce weight, the original Hot Rods were typically vintage Ford Model Ts, Model As and Model Bs. These cars were quite often channeled, relieved of excess pieces like hoods and windshields, and given a proper engine tune or different block altogether to increase their power output.
As Hot Rodding trends come and go, building a very timeless deuce coupe like the example offered here will stand the test of time. This stunning steel Tuxedo Black 1932 Ford 3-Window coupe has been recently built by some incredible craftsmen with the intention of producing a timeless yet highly functional Hot Rod. This 3-window coupe was primed, block sanded and painted in a stunning shade of Tuxedo Black. The interior has been trimmed in a luxurious orange pleated leather with the same quality as modern luxury vehicles. The dash is outfitted with period-correct Stewart-Warner gauges displaying all vital functions.
The frame was boxed, the front section double-walled and a C-notched top gave it the proper period Hot Rod stance. The chassis has been updated with a fully independent rear suspension inspired by early E-Type Jaguars with inboard brakes and four Alden adjustable coilovers. The frame was painted in PPG Black and all hardware has been plated to a show-quality finish. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at each corner hiding behind classic American racing wheels wrapped in a set of modern Michelin radial tires.
Keeping with the period Hot Rod theme, under the hood is a solid lifter 327 CI engine built to the legendary Corvette L79 specifications. With 10.5 compression, Fuelie cylinder heads and a Duntov cam, this solid lifter small-block should provide more than enough power to get this coupe hustling down the road. This stout powerplant is backed by a Legend LGT700 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive for easy highway cruising. Taste goes a long way in Rodding, and the incredible blend of authentic old and creatively refined new here is truly something to admire.
