1956 Ford Thunderbird

With the introduction of the Chevrolet Corvette in 1953, a new type of American car was now being produced. The two-seater roadster was back and proving to be popular. Ford jumped into the game with the Ford Thunderbird in 1955, and it was an instant sales success, quickly outselling the Corvette. For the second year of production, minor styling changes were present, including the optional Continental Kit and famous “porthole” windows in the hardtop. Another change included the availability of the 312 CI V-8 as an optional upgrade from the standard 292 CI Y-block V-8.

This tastefully restored 1956 Ford Thunderbird is presented in Code Y Sunset Coral exterior paint, which is complemented by a black and white interior with a black convertible soft top. Under the hood is the optional 312 CI version of Ford’s Y-block V-8 engine, here sending the power to a Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. This beautiful car also features many sought-after options on early Thunderbirds, including a four-way power seat, the Thunderbird engine dress-up kit, rear fender skirts, a Town and Country radio, a heater/defroster, power steering, the Continental Kit and more. Recently, it has been nicely restored and presents very well today. Finish off this restoration is a set of Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels with wide whitewall tires.

This nicely restored Thunderbird is finished in a timeless color combination and is sure to grab some attention on the road. It’s a very nice example of ‘50s-era styling and comes in a two-seater roadster that’s prime for Sunday evening cruises.
