1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible

When the Ford Motor Company was looking for vehicles in the luxury segment to go against the Cadillacs and Imperials of the day, the Lincoln-Mercury Division came up with a flagship called the Lincoln Continental. With its suicide doors and clean-cut lines, Lincoln knew their design was a winner, as there was evidence it had already had an impact on the competition. One concern was Lincoln's smaller size, the implication of which was that smaller equaled less substantial. Lincoln answered that by advising that the Lincoln was the heaviest of the top luxury cars, and this added weight was indicative of more extensive soundproofing, better body construction and higher quality.

This incredible 1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible was built on March 8th, 1961, and has received a full frame-off nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration to the highest level. Rarely are these cars ever restored to this level as the cost becomes exuberant. During the restoration, the body was stripped to bare metal and the bodywork was finished to be laser-straight with incredible panel gaps. The Presidential Black paint has been wet sanded and polished to show quality luster. Every piece of trim has been re-plated or polished to a mirror finish. The black leather interior has been re-trimmed and looks as it did when it left the assembly line.

Under the hood is the 430 CI V-8 engine backed by the Twin-Range Turbo-Drive automatic transmission which has been rebuilt and operates flawlessly. The undercarriage has been completely painted in body color and the suspension components rebuilt and refinished. This Continental drives just as good as it looks, which is a true testament to the extreme restoration quality.

To match its attractive looks are a handful of luxury options including power seats, power windows, power-operated deck lid, automatic retracting rear door windows, power steering, power brakes, power-operated door lock system, heater and defroster, electric clock and more. This Lincoln Continental is one of the most emblematic American cars of its time, and this particular car is no doubt one of the finest examples in the world. Certainly, one would be very hard-pressed to find one nicer anywhere.
