1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

Ford introduced the Fastback version of the popular Mustang in August 1964. It traded conventional trunk space for increased interior volume and gave the car lines similar to the Corvette and some European sports cars. The car was received with praise as it introduced a racing disposition to the Mustang line and even served as the basis for Carroll Shelby to build his GT350s. Today, Fastback Mustangs serve as a very popular platform for Hot Rodders to improve on the performance and styling offered from the factory.

This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback was built by Classic Performance Restoration of Mesa, Arizona. The build started with fabricating a tubular chassis that utilizes a rear four-link and QA1 coilovers at all four corners. This Mustang is painted in a menacing Raven Black paint scheme accented by a Ringbrothers carbon fiber hood and trunk lid. The chassis and roll cage are beautifully integrated into the body and powder-coated Grabber Blue. The power comes from a Roush Racing 427 CI IR V-8 topped with a Borla stack fuel injection manifold that is managed by a FAST EFI system. This incredible engine package is paired with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and Currie 9-inch rear end rear axle with a 3.50:1 differential.

The interior is finished in Alcantara upholstery with Procar front bucket seating upholstered in black leather with Alcantara inserts and blue deviated stitching. The interior also features carbon-fiber interior trim, Vintage Air air conditioning, a Hurst shifter, power windows, an Alcantara headliner, Wilton wool-style carpeting, racing harnesses for both occupants, Tilton pedals, an electric parking brake, Dakota digital gauges and a JL audio system with a trunk-mounted subwoofer. The 18″ and 19″ diameter Niche three-piece wheels wear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 265/35 up front and 345/30 out back. Braking duties are handled by Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners. A beautifully done car with a “cost is no object” build. Since completion, it has won numerous awards and is a pleasure to drive.
