The Story
Like the Mustang on which it was based, the Shelby GT350 received an updated appearance for 1967 with a unique fiberglass hood, centrally located fog lamps, Mercury Cougar tail lamps and more air scoops. The engine, however, remained the same: the tried-and-true 289 CI HiPo V-8 equipped with a “Hi-Rise” aluminum intake manifold. Power was also the same at 306 HP, which is very impressive from a 289 CI engine even today. Shelby added such race-inspired items as oversized front disc brakes, a fiberglass hood and a lowered suspension with oversized tires on 15-inch wheels. These upgrades created a package with the potential to slay Corvettes and any other sports car in its way.
This 1967 Shelby GT350 was delivered new to Jack Loftus Ford Inc. in Hinsdale, Illinois, on March 15, 1967, and is one of only 64 factory ordered in the stunning color combination of Dark Moss Green with a Parchment interior. Under the hood lives the 289 CI HiPo V-8 with an aluminum Hi-Rise intake manifold, channeling power through a 4-speed manual transmission and a solid axle 9-inch rear end. Other options include the Extra Cooling Package, Courtesy Light Group, Fold Down Rear Seat, Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, Interior Decor Group and Heavy Duty Battery. A classic set of Kelsey-Hayes 5 Star Mags and Goodyear bias-ply tires round off the look of the car.
This car has previously been rotisserie restored to factory specs including correct paint finishes, paint daubs, inspection markings and delivery tags. The paint has been wet sanded and polished to a show-quality shine. This Shelby comes documented with an Elite Marti Report, Dealer Invoice and is listed in the SAAC registry. This presents a great opportunity for a collector to add one of the best-looking Shelby Mustangs to their stable.
