The Story
During the 1980s and early ‘90s, the Fox Body Mustang was one of the hottest performance cars on the market. The Mustang had roared back to the top of the American performance scene, thanks to Fox Body Mustangs powered by the 5.0L/225 HP High Output V-8. With their light weight, affordability and ease of modification, the fuel-injected “H.O.” Mustangs ruled the streets and strips, erasing the bad memories of the emissions-strangled cars of the 1970s.
The GT looked much different from the base Mustang LX, thanks to sleeker aero styling with a no-grille front fascia, flush headlights, round fog lamps, wider and lower rocker panels, a rear spoiler and louvered tail lights. A Quadra-shock rear suspension aided traction, as did the wide 225/60x15 Goodyear Eagle tires on turbine-style cast aluminum wheels.
