The Story
When the 2007 Shelby GT500 was launched, it was the hottest vehicle to come out of Detroit as it was the first new Shelby Mustang in 40 years. The Mustang was redesigned with more aggressive bodywork, giving it a look worthy of the Shelby badge. To match its new aggressive shape, Ford decided to stuff a slightly detuned version of the supercharged 5.4L Ford GT supercar engine producing 500 HP into America's favorite pony car; it created a buzz never before seen in the four-plus-decade history of the breed. When they were announced, buyers flooded the dealerships paying huge markups just to have the newest Shelby.
The example offered here was sold at Motor Inn of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and finished in Tor Red paint with white stripes. Owned by only one collector, this example has seen a mere 4,009 miles since new and remains in showroom condition. All Shelby GT500s came very well equipped from the factory with limited options available, however this car does feature the desirable Shaker 1000 audio system and comes with the factory-supplied car cover.
Due to the nature of their design and the ability to extract large horsepower from the 5.4L engine with simple modifications, it is increasingly difficult to find clean, untouched examples. This car is not only a clean, stock car, but with limited mileage it is truly a rare opportunity to acquire a “new” 2007 Shelby GT500.
