2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 Convertible

The WS6 arrived in 1978 as an option for certain Firebird models. Then, in 1979, the WS6 package became available for the Firebird Formula and the Trans Am. The WS6 package remained solely a handling upgrade that would become standard equipment on all third-generation (1982-1992) Firebird Formula and GTA models, but weirdly the WS6 Trans Am package remained optional for the Trans Am. Pontiac took the WS6 option off the menu for the beginning of the fourth-generation Firebird and then brought it back with a vengeance from 1996 until the Firebird's demise in 2002.

In 2002, the WS6 Trans Am rolled off production lines with 325 HP, achieving 0-60 MPH in under 5 seconds. The WS6 performance package beat many era competitors with a 6,200 RPM-limit, 5.7L displacement and 350 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the previous generation's suspension-only upgrades, the final iteration of the WS6 brought about better handling, a more aggressive look and, most excitingly, more power.

This 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible was delivered new to Delehanty Pontiac Company in Flushing, Michigan. It was special ordered by the dealer principal himself and kept in his private collection until just very recently. Knowing the rarity and desirability of the WS6 Trans Am, the original owner kept the car, as new, with just 211 miles on the odometer and in showroom-fresh condition. Looking at the included original window sticker, this example came with a host of options including a power top, air conditioning, a power six-way seat, cruise control, keyless entry, power windows and locks, a Torsen limited-slip differential, dual exhaust, monotube carbon shocks and the optional Ram Air performance package. Included in the sale are the original window sticker, a build sheet, owner’s manuals, dealer brochures, two keys, a car cover, dealer hat, dealer T-shirt and more. It’s a true time capsule.
