2012 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake

The Super Snake has always been the ultimate form of the Mustang. With modern examples, it wasn’t just the power that was improved, with upgraded styling and handling helping to create the ultimate package. These cars are not for the faint of heart with 800 HP produced from a 5.4L supercharged engine backed by a 6-speed manual transmission; these cars were created for the person who thought 550 HP just wasn’t enough.

The car starts life as a customer-purchased 2012 Shelby GT500 that Shelby converts to Super Snake status with the help of some needed upgrades. It starts by upgrading the supercharger to a Kenne Bell unit, which is then joined with the new all-aluminum 5.4L Ford V-8 to make 800 HP, roughly 250 more than the original car. This is backed by a Hurst-shifted 6-speed transmission, with an aluminum driveshaft sending power to the 3.73 rear end. Its 20-inch Shelby/Alcoa wheels are mounted over Shelby 6-piston front and 4-piston rear disc brakes, improving Ford’s already excellent performance suspension.

The Super Snake is readily identified by its scooped fiberglass hood, rear quarter window scoops, rear spoiler and badging. Inside, the black leather interior is upgraded with “Carroll Shelby” embroidered headrests, Alcantara inserts and auxiliary gauges, with the final and most important touch being the unique dash plaque with the car’s special Super Snake serial number.

This 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake is finished in black, which is accented by a matte black center stripe. This color combination is carried through into the interior. This Super Snake has been under single ownership, accumulating only 3,450 miles since new, and the dash is signed by Carroll Shelby. Documenting this one owner Super Snake is a certificate from the Shelby American Registry, and the car is accompanied by owners manuals and two keys.
