1965 Dodge Power Wagon W200 Pickup

The famous Dodge Power Wagon, first introduced in 1946, underwent a radical transformation in 1961. Marking a drastic departure from the past, this all-new Sweptline design featured large flat panels broken only by a sweeping crease that formed a check in the rear of the styled Sweptside cargo box. Integrated cab steps were concealed by the doors, and a full-width hood featured faux hood louvers. The introductory grille was made up of tinsel-thin bars. Since it was both fragile and barely covered the front fascia, 1962 Power Wagons saw beefier front ornamentation more appropriate on a work truck, as this was still a time when trucks were primarily used for utility and didn’t have much use for excessive styling elements. Model year 1962 also saw Dodge’s first crew cabs available as a regular production option.

The first major styling change was for 1965, when the front fascia went from dual headlights to a massively framed single headlight on each side that was incorporated into a full-width grille. This theme carried through until 1968, when the grille became a narrower yet more massive single-piece assembly. The base engine was the slant-6, and an optional 318 CI V-8 was available for customers looking for extra horsepower.

This 1965 Dodge W200 Power Wagon is finished in a beautiful shade of dark green that is accented by a white roof and wheels. Under the hood, this W200 is powered by the optional 318 CI V-8 that sends power to all four wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. For additional off-road performance, it is equipped with front Warn locking hubs. Under previous ownership, this example was nicely restored, and it includes a comprehensively restored interior as well as a new stained oak bed.
