1967 Ford Mustang GT Fastback

The 1967 Mustang was the first redesign of the original model. Ford's designers began drawing up a larger version, even as the original was achieving sales success. The major mechanical feature was to allow the installation of a big-block V-8 engine. The overall size, interior and cargo space were increased. Exterior trim changes included concave tail lights, side scoops (1967 model) and chrome side ornamentation (1968 model), square rearview mirrors, and the usual yearly wheel and gas cap changes. The high-performance 289 option was placed behind the newer 390 CI in making 320 HP, which was equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor. A 390 GT engine backed by an automatic transmission recorded quarter-mile times of approximately 13 seconds and trap speeds of over 105 MPH (169 KPH).
