1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Convertible

In 1969, Pontiac showed up with a GTO-derived “Judge” package, which was inspired by Rowan and Martin’s avant-garde comedy TV show “Laugh-In.” The new Judge package would feature wild stripes and spoilers plus “The Judge” graphics. Matching the new attitude of the Judge was the availability of two potent engine packages offered by Pontiac that year. Pontiac engines in the GTO line displaced 400 CI, and the new Ram Air III and Ram Air VI made use of the functional hood scoops.

Treated to a frame-off restoration, this example features the 400/366 HP Ram Air III powerplant, detailed to OEM appearances. The Ram Air III engine/4-speed combination is one of Pontiac’s most desirable muscle-car drivelines. With decaled callouts on the hood scoop sides, it gets respect whether in motion or sitting still. Behind this is a Muncie 4-speed and Safe-T-Track differential, making sure that dual tracks of evidence could be made under the rules of acceleration. “Aiding and abetting” that scene are wide Rally II road wheels and redline rubber. The interior features vinyl bucket seats and console, push-button radio with optional rear speaker, Hurst shifter, remote outside mirrors and Judge-specific details. Power steering and power front disc brakes are also part of the package.
