1965 Pontiac Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe

The 1965 Pontiac Beaumont L79 is a rare and highly sought-after muscle car built exclusively for the Canadian market, based on the A-body Chevelle platform and featuring distinctive, Pontiac-influenced design cues. On the exterior, the 1965 Beaumont featured Pontiac’s signature split grille, bold chrome accents and distinctive "Beaumont" badging. Inside, the cabin was well-appointed with bucket seats, a center console and an optional tachometer, reinforcing its muscle car pedigree.

Under the hood, the L79 option packed a high-performance 327 CI V-8 rated at 350 HP, making it one of the most potent small-block engines of the era. With a high-lift camshaft, upgraded internals and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, the L79 delivered exhilarating acceleration and impressive top-end power. Paired with a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, the Beaumont L79 provided an engaging driving experience.

As per the GM of Canada documentation, only 23 Beaumont coupes were produced with the coveted high-horsepower L79 engine and only six surviving examples are known to still exist. This particular car was built on March 26, 1965 and sold at Tofield Service Garage in Tofield, Alberta. Ordered new in attractive Code R Regal Red paint, complemented by a Code 985 Black trim interior, its other options include an M20 4-speed manual transmission, an upper dash pad cover, electric wipers, F40 heavy-duty suspension, an engine block heater, whitewall tires, a heavy-duty battery, reverse lamps, a tachometer and an AM pushbutton radio.

A car of this rarity deserved a complete, frame-off restoration with no expense spared. The car was stripped to bare metal and refinished to a show-quality standard. The restoration brought challenges in finding virtually unobtainable trim components, pieces that took literally years to track down, like the authentic rocker moldings and wheel covers that look like Pontiac hubcaps but without "Pontiac Motor Division" written around the edges of the center.

With its limited production numbers and exclusive Canadian heritage, this 1965 Pontiac Beaumont L79 is a prized collector’s car today, celebrated for its blend of Pontiac styling and Chevrolet muscle.
