1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

The 1967 Corvette Sting Ray was the last Corvette of the second generation, and five years of refinements made it the best of the line. The 427/435HP L71 Sting Ray would be the high-water mark of Corvette performance and refinement for the C2 series of cars. Changes were modest with five smaller front fender vents replacing the three larger ones and the flat-finish rockers conferred a lower profile. New was a single backup light mounted above the license plate and the previous models' wheel covers were exchanged for the new design.

Interior alterations included revised upholstery, and the handbrake moved from beneath the dash to between the seats. The 427/435 HP came standard from the factory with the Holley triple two-barrel carburetor arrangement called Tri-Power. The rare L71 engine package cost the original buyer an extra $437.10 on the GM order form. As per the NCRS Shipping Data Report, the car was produced on September 14, 1966, and sold new at Kelly Sales Company in Greenwood, Indiana. It was factory delivered in the attractive code 976 Marina Blue and factory complemented by code 450 BA White/Blue vinyl interior, which is one of the most desirable color combinations for any ‘67 Corvette. Also factory ordered was the highly sought-after L71 427/435 engine backed by the M21 4-speed manual transmission. As per the NCRS validated tank sticker, this example was also optioned with Transistor Ignition, Positraction 3.55 rear end, 775x15 redline tires, white convertible top and pushbutton AM/FM Radio.

This documented example has benefitted from a frame-off restoration to an extremely high standard. The beautiful Marina Blue paint has been wet sanded and polished to show quality. The undercarriage has been detailed and looks as if it just rolled off the assembly line. The car today remains in excellent condition, having covered fewer than 875 miles following its restoration.
