The Story

The 1972 Chevrolet Corvette is significant as the last year of the classic Corvette C3 design with chrome bumpers at both ends. With increased Federal emissions legislation beginning to have an impact on power outputs, the optional 454 CI LS5 V-8 engine was made to produce 270 HP, which nevertheless was good enough to propel the 'Vette through the standing quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds with a terminal velocity of 93 MPH—figures on par with those of the V-12-engined Jaguar E-Type.

This stunning 1972 Corvette was completed at the St. Louis GM plant and sold new at Williams & Swanson in Renton, Washington. According to the trim tag, the car is finished in 989 war bonnet yellow over 421 saddle leather interior. Under the bulged hood lies the numbers-matching LS5 454 CI/270 HP engine backed by an automatic transmission. As well as having one of the most stout powerplants available, this example comes with air conditioning, power windows, power brakes, a tilt and telescopic steering column, power steering, leather interior, luggage rack and AM/FM radio.
