2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible

Throughout Corvette history, the ZR1 moniker has been assigned to the fastest, most powerful Corvette in the marque’s history to that time. This latest iteration of the ZR1 is no exception. It makes use of a bulletproof 6.2L all-aluminum pushrod V-8 engine benefiting from Eaton supercharging to manufacture its 755 HP and the monstrous torque that has long characterized beast-mode Corvettes, but the rest of the package is more an array of adjustments than it is any single new milestone feat of engineering. It’s equipped with General Motors’ first dual-fuel-injection system, which employs primary direct injection and supplemental port injection, and making its presence known, visually speaking, the supercharger/intercooler assembly is capped by a special carbon-fiber “halo,” for which the hood has a cutout to accommodate.

To improve aerodynamics and cooling of mechanical components, Chevrolet devised a unique front fascia with larger air inlets and diffusers. In addition, two different aero packages further improved downforce and stability for more confident handling. A standard rear “low wing” helps the ZR1 achieve the highest possible top speed, said to be nearly 215 MPH, while an optional, adjustable “high wing”— part of the ZTK Track Performance Package—creates maximum downforce for better cornering and quicker lap times. The ZTK package also includes a front splitter with carbon-fiber end caps and specific chassis and Magnetic Ride Control tuning.
