The Story

The 1969 Corvette marked the second year of the sports car’s third generation, and just a few exterior cues differentiate it from the previous year’s model. Most obvious are the Stingray badges mounted on the front fenders above the louvers, a new addition for 1969. After a year's absence, the Stingray name was back on Corvettes, but now as one word, not two. The standard engine was now a 350 CI V-8 with optional big-block 427 CI engines available, including the L71 Tri-Power that used a trio of 2-barrel carburetors to pump out up to a ground-pounding 435 HP.

This 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Factory Ordered L71 Convertible offered here was shipped on November 30, 1968, to its original owner. It was ordered new in code 972 Can Am White complemented by a striking trim 411 Bright Blue interior, which is a very rare color combination. Additional options include head restraint seatback, side exhaust, F41 suspension, white folding top, 3.70 positraction differential, transistor ignition, tilt and telescopic steering, numbers-matching M21 4-speed manual transmission and AM/FM pushbutton radio. Lift the hood of this stunning Corvette and what comes immediately into view is the numbers-matching Tri-Power L71 427 CI/435 HP big-block V-8.

Due to its provenance, this Corvette has benefited from a full frame-off restoration with great attention to detail. The result is a beautifully executed restoration complete with a fully detailed engine compartment, interior and undercarriage.

Important with any Corvette, this example comes fully documented with the bulletproof GM of Canada documentation showing the original options, including the coveted L71 Tri-Power 427/435 HP engine. Examples like this one are extremely hard to find with a numbers-matching engine, quality frame-off restoration and, of course, bulletproof documentation.
