1970 Pontiac Trans Am

The 1970 Trans Am was part of the second generation of Firebirds introduced that year with a completely redesigned body. The Trans Am was built on the same platform as the Firebird but featured several distinguishing features, such as a unique front end, hood with functional scoops and a more aggressive stance. The car came with distinctive appearance features like the "Ram Air" hood, a prominent front grille with an inset “bird” logo and the wide, flared fenders to house larger wheels. Trans Am models came in two main colors: Polar White and Lucerne Blue.

The Ram Air III 400 CI was the standard engine producing 335 HP and 430 lb-ft of torque with a 10.25:1 compression ratio. Transmission options included a 4-speed manual and a 3-speed automatic transmission. The manual transmission models had a close-ratio Muncie transmission, designed to deliver smooth shifts for high-performance driving.

This 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was delivered new to Brose Boubel Pontiac of Boulder, Colorado. As per the PHS documents, it was delivered new in the desirable code 26 Lucerne Blue paint complemented by a code 201 Blue vinyl bucket seat interior. Lying beneath the infamous shaker hood is a Ram Air III 400 CI V-8 paired with a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. Additional options include 15-inch Rally II-style wheels, a shaker hood, power steering, power front disc brakes and AM/FM radio.
