The Story

Chevrolet offered both base and custom trim packages on the 1970 El Camino. Available only on the custom V-8 model, the SS454 option was a rare choice, especially when equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. This powerplant provided pavement-ripping torque, plenty enough to handle any job in its dual roles as both a capable work vehicle and a fearsome muscle car.

This 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS was sold new at Brown & Hoeye Chevrolet in Mesa, Arizona, per its NCRS shipping data report. It’s finished in the extremely desirable Tuxedo Black with white stripes and fitted with a new black vinyl roof. This beautifully restored Super Sport presents beautifully with a great West Coast body, chrome, glass, trim and a sharp new black vinyl interior. It’s impressively highly optioned with air conditioning, power steering, power front disc brakes, a cowl induction hood, dual mirrors, a tachometer and an AM/FM radio. The 454/360 HP engine is backed by a 4-speed Muncie transmission and heavy-duty 12-bolt Positraction rear end. The overall look is completed with a set of 14x7-inch Super Sport five-spoke wheels fitted with correct bias-ply Firestone Wide Oval tires.
